motortrade-1302531218-jpgWhat Is Motor Trade Insurance?

It is a legal requirement for any motor vehicle to have adequate motor insurance if it is to be used or left on a public highway.

Motor trade insurance typically covers the specified person or persons to drive any motor vehicle for motor trade purposes.

Is UK Motor Trade Insurance right for me?

If your business operates in the motor industry then the answer to the question is definitely yes. If you are a UK resident then this is a must in order to be able to service all your business needs and give you a cutting edge advantage over some of your competitors.

Like the many other motor insurance policies a foreign use extension can be provided to drive in member states of the European Union.

Can I obtain Motor Trade Insurance Online?

Motor trade insurance is available online but at CRS Consultants this is not something that we recommend. The online quote systems generally makes too many assumptions to push the quotation down and may not in fact cover you every need and some of the questions are a little vague with your responses. Many articles have been written by various media publications highlighting that reduced policy benefits and much larger insurance excesses often apply on many online motor trade insurance quotes.

We endeavour to provide a quality motor trade insurance product at a very competitive premium. Should you want to speak to a skilled advisor then please contact the office on 01606 48521 for more details or alternatively email your enquiry to info@crs-consultants.com

What driving restrictions can I get on my trade insurance policy?

All motor insurance criteria are alike. Driving restrictions for the UK motor trade insurance tend to be:

* Insured Only

* Insured and specified drivers

* Any Driver. These generally are few and far between and are only on offer with experienced existing motor trade businesses.

What type of vehicles can I drive on my Motor Trade insurance policy?

We at CRS can cater for all types of vehicles that you require and have special policies in place to cover any vehicle that you wish. The premiums can alter dramatically to cover all these vehicles so working out what the majority of your business types would be will help cut the costs of your motor insurance.

Can I cover my own private car on my motor trader’s insurance policy?

In one word, yes. It is a requirement that you disclose all vehicles in your possession whether for sale or owned for personal use.

I’m a part time motor trader is this acceptable?

We can offer Insurance cover for part time traders but a full disclosure of your main full time occupation would be required before terms can be agreed. We can also cater for additional cover for your full time trade and as such policies for this can extend to business use for this.

We are able to also offer introductory discounts for new start ups or even part time traders and below is a brief overview of this.

* Mirrored No Claims Discount – if you can provide evidence that own another vehicle and insure it then we can often mirror the No Claims Discount entitlement across to your motor trade insurance policy. This need not be just from a private car insurance policy and can include a commercial vehicle insurance policy such as a van insurance, courier insurance or HGV insurance.

* Motor Trade experience – if you have previously been employed in the motor trade and were named on an appropriate insurance policy we are able to give you up to 5 years introductory discount.

* Spouse No Claims Discount – if you have previously only had one vehicle in the household and the policyholder is your partner we are able to allow huge introductory discounts of up to 5 years for a new motor trade insurance policy.

What cover can I get for my motor trader insurance?

Motor insurance within the UK follows the same suit:

* Comprehensive Insurance

* Third Party Fire and Theft Insurance

* Third Party Only Insurance

Cover is worked out slightly different in view of amounts and generally the minimum value per vehicle starts at £2500 and works up to a maximum of £150,000

You are requested to state the maximum value of indemnity required when obtaining your UK motor trade insurance quote. Often these increase in increments of £5,000.

Is there an excess when I claim on my UK motor trade insurance policy?

As with most UK motor insurance there is a policy excess in the event of a claim. The excesses are clearly displayed on the motor trade insurance quote and will also be advised by our Commercial team prior to cover commencing. This information is a must on all policies and can also differ from insurers.

Do I need any other insurance?

Motor trade insurance policies from CRS Consultants can become a complicated matter but feel that the more information you provide the better understanding that we have in making sure all your needs are covered. There are many extensions and optional extras that can protect your business and in most cases your livelihood and we have a few examples below. These include Road Risks, Material Damage and Liability cover. Under the Road Traffic Act, Road Risks is a legal requirement and covers the motor vehicles as they are travelling on public roads. Material Damage also referred to as "All Risks" protects your buildings, contents, stock of vehicles and customers’ vehicles and cover is also available for Public Liability (inc Sales Indemnity and Defective Workmanship) and Employers Liability.

Further optional cover such as Business Interruption, which covers the loss of profits due to an unfortunate, yet insured incident such as a fire, Employers Liability which protects the policy holder from legal liability for injury or illness to employees during the time that they are employed by the employer. Engineering Inspection provides insurance for the inspection of the plant required by law. Goods in Transit insurance provides cover for vehicles being transported on a vehicle or trailer.

Other Optional Extras include Commercial Legal Expenses which covers solicitor’s fees and expenses as well as barristers, witness and court costs. The Computer Insurance covers for loss or damage to computer equipment. Lastly, the Group Personal Accident and Sickness covers for you and your employees for bodily injury or the inability to carry out working activities.
