Company History

“In 1977, after working for assurance companies and brokers, I decided to start my own firm of Insurance Brokers and Independent Financial Advisers, “CRS Consultants”. The title, not too original using the initials of my name Clive R Steggel.

The first premises were known affectionately as the shack (opposite the Regal Cinema) moving a couple of years later to 10 The Bull Ring and then later in 1985 to our current premises of Parrs Bank Buildings. Considerable work was undertaken on these premises and in fact the whole building was lifted over 4 feet using the old fashioned lifting methods which was the standard way in the 19th century. These jacks, pumps and manifolds were supplied by the Brine Board and are now on display at the Salt Museum in Northwich. Ours was the last building to be lifted in Northwich and many stories can be told of this event.

I have a strong regard for Northwich as I went to the local schools and have joined in many of the local activities such as Round Table, which I thoroughly recommend for younger persons, I am now in the Rotary Club of Northwich but still active and have been a President of the club and now act as the Treasurer.

CRS Consultants has developed with modern methods, first getting computerised in 1979! There are now over 20 staff and we have three sections to the firm, Personal lines - for motor, house, travel etc insurance , Commercial for all forms of business cover and thirdly Financial service for personal and business mortgages, pensions and investments etc . All with qualified advisors and staff.

We have now developed the firm into a limited company from 1st December 2007 and continue our steady growth and continue providing professional advice and service to existing and new clients in all matters of insurance, investments, pensions, mortgages etc.

This is an exciting era in insurance with many recent changes to regulation and new market opportunities. On the general insurance side we have joined the Westinsure group which enables us to compete on price with the large national brokers whilst retaining our independence and high standards of customer service.

We give impartial independent advice, and always aim to look after clients as we would wish to be dealt with ourselves and to work at all times in the best interest of each of our clients.”
